We are also happy to say that Joan has agreed to stay on with us as a permanent Design Team Member.  Sadly though, due to other commitments, Pam will be leaving us at month's end.  We are so thrilled to have Joan stay on with us and Pam will be greatly missed. 

Because of the Christmas Holiday, there will not be a Bloggers Challenge or Friday Focus this week.  The Design Team has been working so hard that we decided they needed a break to spend time with family and friends.

Friday Focus - Ink Water Colored Paper!

There are times when we need a background that isn't cardstock or patterned paper.  What I want to show you today is one way to add add color to paper to make it your own special background.

Supplies:  Clover Craft Iron; Ranger Non-Stick Craft Sheet, Mini Mister, Worn Lipstick, Fired Brick and Aged Mahogany Distress Inks; Manilla Shipping Tag

Swipe the inks across the Non-Stick Craft Sheet, making sure you don't swipe the colors over the top of each other.

Mist the inks with water until beads of color appear on the Non-Stick Craft Sheet.

Lay the tag in the ink and pick up your first layer of color.

Using an iron or heat tool, dry the first layer of color.  (I prefer the iron because of the different imperfections I get when drying the tag.)

Lay the tag into the ink again, picking up a second layer of color.

Dry the second layer of color.

Continue adding layers of color and drying in between until you have the desired look and color you want.  Once you are done adding color, wipe off the remainder ink from you craft sheet and then iron your tag until completely dry.

It's completely safe to iron on the non-stick craft sheet.  I will iron the top, then flip the tag over and iron the back, repeating as necessary until the tag is completely dry and flat.

You are now ready to finish your background as desired.

RNBC14 Non Traditional Colors

I am delighted to bring you the blogger challenge today.  It's simple like my card during this busy season.  Create a Christmas card using non traditional Christmas colors.  My card is a 4 1/4" acetate card w/ a 4" white folded card insert.  The white card is held in place with the ribbon.  The Candle with pinecones & holly was colored with copic markers on the rubber, misted with rubbing alcohol and stamped.  The edges were sponged with Distress Milled lavendar & Scattered Straw inks before misting the card front with Perfect Pearls blush/water combination for a subtle shimmer.  The wondrous text script is in the KK originals category and was stamped on the acetate w/ Stazon.  I hope you have time to play along.  Be sure to link your upload back here under the comments so we can see your work.  Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Friday Focus- Tie The Perfect Bow With Kittie

The Friday Focus today will be three different tutorials on working with ribbon. They are short and simple and may even seem elementary to many of you. But, I want to share a few hints with those of you who struggle to create nice ribbon embellishments for your projects. I get comments and questions all the time from people wanting to know how I tie such nice flat bows. I have to admit that is comes very easy for me as my mother put ribbon in my ten year old hands to keep me busy when I "helped" her in her flower shop. I learned how to work with ribbon from mother and it is second nature for me but you can learn as well. Feel free to write any questions you may have in the comments area of this post and I will be more than happy to respond.

The first tutorial shows two techniques for creating a tied knot on your project without all the struggles of trying to tie it directly onto the cardstock. Do you think Sherry tied the ribbon directly onto this darling card? Only Sherry knows for sure.

 

 

I love this perfectly tied single loop bow by Linda. The two toned ribbon shows how perfectly her bow was tied.

 

This is an example of a multi loop bow and shows off how much more those few extra loops can add to your project.

 

I hope you have found these tutorials helpful. I had lots of fun recording them but it didn't take long for me to realize that I was never going to be asked to do my own show on HGTV. Talk about needing speech therapy!!!!!
