SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL!!

Hey all, me again!!  How was your Saturday?  Mine was SUPER busy, but, hey....that is to be expected from a NEW aunt!!  Haha!!  I thought I would stop by and visit with you for a bit!  I have a SPECTACULAR, "Saturday Night Special"!!  Guess what?  I have NOT one, but, TWO creations!!  Both are from our Stampin' Friend, DONNA PHELAN!!  She was AWESOME enough to let me share them with you!!  Thanks SO much Donna for sharing your Rubbernecker creations!!  The first card uses classic RALPH FISHING and the second one uses the fabulous BATHING BEAUTIES!!  Arent these GREAT!!  I LOVE them Donna!!  Cannot wait to see what else you create!!  Have a WONDERFUL night everyone and thanks for stopping by!!  Be sure to stop back on Monday for KITTIE'S KORNER!!

FRIDAY "AFTERNOON" FUN with javablustamper!

Hey all!!  How are you?  I have a few things to share with you!!  First though, I have to tell you that my creation today, is for my NEW Nephew!!  He is being born today via C-section!!  I am SO excited!!  I cannot wait until little GREYSON is here!!!  He should be here anytime now!!  I am just waiting for the text!!  YAY!!

OK, anyway, haha!  Sorry, back to the project, right?!  I made a gift tag, out of a coaster.  I will put my little gift in a Kraft bag, once I get one, haha!  I will then complete my present with this TAG!!

Cute little lamby, huh?  He or she, depending on your creation, is from the new FRIENDS line of stamps?  The ACTUAL name of this little guy is LAMB!  If you give a CLICK on his name it will take you right to him and his FRIENDS!!  I used my Copics and the transfer technique?  Well, at least that is what I was taught, as the name of it!  You take your Copic colors that you want to use and lay the color down on something plastic/acrylic.  I chose my NEW coloring board!!  Haha!  I call it that, but, it is just a glorified plastic cutting board that I found at TJmaxx.  Have to have somethign CUTESY, right?  I thought it would be GREAT to color on and use for this technique!  I LOVED it so much that I got one for each of my daughters.  They LOVE to color with mommy!  Anyway, you lay your color down and use your acrylic/plastic like a painters palette?  You can use an acrylic block of even a CD case?  Whatever you might have.  For your brush you would use a VERY light color Copic, from the color group you are working with, such as a 00 or 000 shade?  I however, like to use my 0 colorless blender, for most projects?  Then I get texture too!  Here are some pics, so you get the idea, and I HAD to included a pic of my board for you to see!!

After I colored the LAMB, I used my Spellbinder Circles and Scallop Circles to cut out pieces of DSP to layer on my coaster.  I added the LAMB (popped up with pop dots), buttons, and Twinery twine.  I then punched a hole at the top and added some more twine to hang it from!  I am SO happy with how this came out and cannot wait to give it to my Sis for my new Nephew!!  I bet he is here already!!  Thanks everyone for stopping by for some FRIDAY FUN!!  Join us tomorrow for our SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL!!  Until then,have a FABULOUS FRIDAY!!

Karen’s Korner–Cropping the image

I love the full images from Rubbernecker, but you can get even more versatility from them by cropping just part of them. This little girl image has a wheelbarrow full of flowers which I cropped out for this card. I stamped her with rich cocoa ink (I think it looks more vintage) and colored with Copic markers.

I created the frame by stamping the same background three times, making sure it didn’t line up each time so that I would get a more mottled look. I then cut the frame out using two sizes of round dies from Spellbinders. That is popped up over the image. I then backed it with the light pink cardstock which is cut/embossed with Spellbinders scalloped circle die. The card front is the beautiful background stamp inked with Victorian Velvet distress ink and stamped on white. I then embossed it with the Sizzix Thank You Set 5 folder and mounted it onto the light pink card stock. I dyed the seam binding with the same ink, wrapped it around the card and tied a double bow.

Wednesday's Worktable with Charlene

Hello, stamping friends!  Happy Wednesday to you!

I don't have a card for you this week, but I do have a DIY project!  When I was gazing around my stamp room a couple days ago, my eyes fell upon this silver daisy photo frame that I picked up earlier this summer at a garage sale for .25.  I still hadn't put a photo in it, and I got to thinking what a perfect frame this would be using my Rubbernecker Daisies (SKU #506-05) image!  Home decorating on a budget, I say, and this was really easy to put together.

I stamped the image onto white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored the daisies with Sunflower and Egyptian Gold Twinkling H20s.  Notice I didn't entirely fill in the daisy petals allowing for a highlighting effect of some white space.  I filled the daisy centers with brown glitter glue.  The leaves and stems were watercolored with garden green.  Lastly, I added accent dotting around the daisies with a chocolate brown fine tip marker. 

I framed the daisies using my square Nestabilities for the chocolate brown and yellow gold papers.  I used 1/8" thick dimensionals to adhere the framed pieces to the image piece and placed inside my silver photo frame.  Voila!  Now I have a cheery piece of artwork for my home decor.  Or, I could also create a matching card and give this as a gift!

Hi Everyone....Joan here!! It's my turn to host the Tuesday With the Team post and I'm feeling a little Shabby today!!

 

I just love the shabby chic look with distressing, sewing, sponging, and lots of vintage type details. My first card today features the large stamp from the Moulin Rouge set # SKU 576. It was stamped with Cranberry Crisp (retired Stampin Up! ink) and sponged with More Mustard and Walnut Distress Ink. The edges were distressed and it was popped up at an angle over the background dp from Graphic 45 called Le Cirque Collection. The background paper was also distressed, sponged, and sewing was done around the edges. The scalloped edge, lace, seam binding, button, twine, and the banner finish it off.

 

My second card was so much fun to make...I created the collage background with stamps from the Opera set #SKU 575, the Eiffel Tower from the Moulin Rouge set #SKU 576, and several different Ranger Distress inks. The plaid background was stamped with the Plaid Panel #SKU578 and Peeled Paint Distress ink....the sentiment #SKU 565-18 was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black.  The corrugated frame, Webster's Pages Bloomers, twine, pearls, and lace finish it off.

Kittie's Korner- Just Because

Welcome to Kittie's Korner. I hope you enjoyed the Rubbernecker blog hop yesterday. The team had lots of fun featuring three new collections -Scooter Kids, Animals and Friends. It's still not too late to check out all of our team posts and leave comments for a chance to win a $25 Rubbernecker gift certificate.

I have never been one to use lots of sentiments in my card front designs. I've always put more emphasis on the image, layout and embellishments.  Rubbernecker has a wonderful line of sentiments and I have found my self turning to them more often.   My project today uses the "Just Because" sentiment from the Friends collections paired with a big flower and foliage on a simple layout.

 

 

I made the flower using four graduating Nestabilities scalloped dies, 1 1/4", 1" and 3/4" circle punches, Martha Stewart Hydrangea punch and a 1/4" Fiskars flower punch.  I used mini scalloped decorator scissors to cut around the three punched circles to make them match the scalloped dies. I glued the two sections back together to give more of a rounded form to the flower and then lightly rolled a stylus over each flower section while laying on a mouse pad to soften the cardstock. I cut two scalloped sections out of each of the larger scalloped circles(like cutting out a piece of pie) and cut one section out of the smaller circles. I also made three small hydrangea blossoms and one 1/4" punched flower for the tiny center of the flower. I started with the largest flower layer and applied a touch of Matte Accent to the center to hold the next size smaller flower and continued until I had the last little tiny flower in place.  I used a small sponge dauber to apply a Shell Pink ink to the petals to bring it to life. The foliage was made using a Nestabiities die and lightly distressed with a stylus on the mouse pad and then sponged with Shabby Shutters ink.

    

The main frame layer was punched using the Martha Stewart Double Heart Punch Around the Page set and the frame was cut using a scalloped Nestibilities die. I used the Stampin' Up Lattice embossing folder for the white background to add a touch of texture. I mounted the frame with mounting tape and then arranged the flower and foliage and applied to the background using Matte Accents.  I used Peeled Paint ink for the sentiment and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I really like that this is so basically simple yet elegant.  The flower is really the star but the sentiment is so sweet and sends the perfect message for any occasion.
 

I will do a step by step picture tutorial soon on how to make this flower. It's lots of fun and not nearly as time consuming as it may sound.

Hey all!!  Afternoon to you!!  How is your day going?  Mine is SO super busy, it's crazy!!  Haha!  Tomorrow is my oldest daughter's birthday!!  Happy Birthday Kyah!  Ok, just had to say that!  AND.......I am preparing for all the FUN we are going to have on Sunday, here on the BLOG!!  Woohoo!!  LOTS to share with you for our HOP!!!  Hope you can join us!! 

OK, normally we like to share brand NEW creations with you here, on the blog!  BUT........amidst all the hub-bub, I will have to take a walk down memory lane!  Haha!  I will have to share with you one of my FAVE Rubbernecker creations!!  In fact, it is ONE of the first ones I made!  I hope you like it!!  I used the ROLLER SKATE SKU 83-06!!  I stamped it twice and colored both in.  Then I cut one out and used a pop dot to raise it!  I LOVE how it turned out!!  I even used an orange and a red Twinklette  pen to glitter it up a bit!!  I just HAD to make something to go with that HOKEY POKEY SKU 504-15 sentiment!!  I just LOVE that sentiment!!  Heck I LOVE all of the Rubbernecker sentiments!!  They are GREAT!!  You will have to visit the store to check them out!!

Karen’s Korner–Getting sentimental

I love beautiful sentiments, and making them the focus of a card is so nice. The card front is green card stock and the edges sponged for a little more texture. I combined the sweet sentiment with the beautiful flowering vine image. The image is colored with Copic markers, the edges of the panels sponged and then mounted onto the blue card stock.

 

 

The lower panel is a strip of the blue card stock and the white panel punched and embossed. I then added the center embellishment which is the two colors of card stock layered and the beautiful keyhole added.

Wednesday's Worktable with Charlene - Music is the Voice

I can so relate to Billy Joel's words, as I believe most of us can.  I love all kinds of music whether it be good ol' rock and roll, the blues, classical, jazz, and, yes, even a little bit country.  One of my most favorite songs is "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."  I love the ending lyrics:

      "If happy little bluebirds fly

       Beyond the rainbow

       Why, oh why can't I?"

Those particular lyrics encourage me.  I interpret them to mean I can do anything that I set my mind to, and I draw upon them often whenever I get to feeling down or frustrated by stumbling blocks in my path.

When I was working the Rubbernecker booth at the Paper Arts Festival here in Michigan last weekend, I saw these music images and realized I didn't have any in my stamp supply at home.  Therefore, I picked them up knowing I would use them for my post today.

I colored the violin and music sheet with Copic markers, cut them out, and popped them up on dimensionals.  I applied them to the music embossed vanilla cardstock, which I distressed with a distressing tool and Vintage Photo ink.  I made faux brads with a 1/4" circle punch, embossing them with copper embossing powder.  The sentiment inside the card reads "Music is the voice of the soul."  The sketch design is one that my fellow Rubbernecker design team member, Holly, issued for the Dare to Get Dirty challenges on Splitcoaststampers last week.  I really wanted to do all of the challenges, but time didn't permit me to complete them, so I'm using Holly's sketch design for my card today.  Thanks for a great sketch, Holly!
