Karen’s Korner–Let it snow

I love snowflakes. This set has tons of them in three different sizes! Gotta love that!

I began by embossing the center die from the Spellbinders Snowflake Pendant. I then stamped snowflakes around it using Tumbled Glass ink. I then added the tiny snowflake in the center before cutting, embossing it with Spellbinders circle die. I then mounted it onto the colored cardstock which was cut/embossed with the Spellbinders scalloped circle die. The white card front was embossed with the snowflake folder on the top only, leaving the bottom flat for the sentiment and snowflakes to be added. I added a strip of the colored cardstock and mounted the whole thing onto the colored card stock. I then added the silver cord bow as the finishing touch.

Karen’s Korner–More Decor

I am just giddy with the results as I progress on my wall décor. Remember the word family as it was? Okay, I’ll show you.

It was kind of vanilla – in more ways than one. YAWN!!!! I didn’t like the way it was looking in my wall arrangement, so I was thinking of decoupaging some designer paper onto it. Well, I really like to do things in the simplest way I can. Hmmm, what to do? I decided to try just stamping right onto the wooden letters. I didn’t know if it would work, but if it didn’t, I could cover it up with the paper, right? So, I inked up the 2 part Flourish Set 1 with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, held my breath and stamped. Oooooo, it looked good. I did it again and again and again!!!!! YES!!!! It looks great and is just the look I wanted for my wall. Yippee!!!!!

I'm still working on getting all the frames filled with family photos.

Wednesday's Worktable with Charlene

Passionately Purple.....that's what I've labeled the card I have to share with you this week because purple is one of my favorite colors and this card is passionately purple!

This wildflower image is one of my favorites from the Rubbernecker florals and since it is a solid image, it's perfect for using the black magic technique.  What is the black magic technique, you ask?  It's very simple, yet so effective. 

1.  Stamp your solid image with white craft ink

2.  Heat set the image with a heat tool (or hair dryer)

3.  Color the image with watercolor pencils

It's that simple!  After I colored my flowers with two shades of purples and the leaves and stems with two shades of greens, I took a fine tip watercolor brush and added brushstrokes of white acrylic paint for accent.  I framed the image with petite oval Nestabilities for depth, added the white bow and pearls at the top.

I've taken a break from scrapbooking for too long. It's time to catch up! I love this new cat set. Not only is this set great for cards, but the images are just the right size for page accents. I also used the new snowflake set to match the red designer paper!

Kittie's Korner -Christmas Tree Holiday Greetings

Welcome to Kittie’s Korner. I have a very simple card to share with you today using using one of the trees from the new Rubbernecker new Christmas Tree set in the 2011 Winter Holiday collection.

I cut out the frame using Nestabilities Fleur De Lis squares and then cut the center out with a regular square die. I stamped the image on a separate piece of cardstock with versa and embossed with gold embossing powder. I filled in the little star at the top with a versa marker and embossed again. I mounted the tree layer from the inside to the opening of the frame with mounting tape. The sentiment was stamped with versa and gold embossed as well. Here are a couple other views.

FRIDAY "NIGHT" FUN with javablustamper

Hey Rubbernecker sisters!  How are you??  SO excited to share with you tonight!!  Woohoo!!  My very FIRST Perfect Pearls creation!!  I was a distress ink maniac with this one!!  SO much fun!!  I will DEF need to try this more often!!  OK here is how it went!!

I took a craft tag and crumpled it up.  I then UN-crumpled it!  Haha!  Then I took my Spiced Marmalade and Walnut Stain distress inks and ran them over the top of the tag, catching a lot of the creases.  After this was done, I sprayed it with my mini mister full of water!!  Since the distress inks are reactive with water, the ink came alive and swirled all over!!  A BEAUTIFUL thing!  I felt I wanted a TAD more, SO.....I sprayed it a bit more!!  Then?  Ironed with my mini craft iron!!  AWESOME!! 

OK  onto the stamping!  I took the Paris 1908 set and stamped the Argyle thingy, with Mahogany, on and off the side.  Then the Flourish 005  in the Spiced Marmalade here and there.  After those were done, I took the larger watch from Watch Set 1 and stamped that in Walnut Stain.  Since I had the Walnut Stain Distress embossing powder, I decided to stamp the smaller watch and emboss it with that AWESOME stuff!!  YAY!  Once all the stamping was done, I took some Baby's Breath Shimmerz Spritz and sprayed it up!!  As luck would have it?  The inks reacted again, making it look even MORE distressed!

Now, onto the card base!  I took some Papertrey Ink Scaret Jewel cardstock and stamped that Argyle thingy again with Mahogany distress ink, then stamped some of those Flourish 005 with the Walnut Stain.  After a little trip to the local Michael's??  PERFECT PEARLS as the finishing touch!!  I took a little of the Mandarin and added it to my mini mister full of water!  Shook it up real good?  AND?  Sprayed my stamped base!!  WOW!!  LOVE how it came out!!  Although, I don't know that these pics wil do it justice!!  Oh well!!

I Put the whole thing together with some foam dimensionals and Charcoal Bakers twine!  I distressed that twine, of course, with some Walnut Stain distress stain!!  I had put a flower together for this and distressed it, BUT, I just did not want to take away from that COOL background!!  Alrighty!  See, told you I was SUPER excited about this one!!  Hope you liked it too!!  Have a WONDERFUL night!!  Thanks SO much for hanging out with me!!  See you at the HOP on Sunday!!  The Stampin' Sisterhood has LOTS to share!!

Karen’s Korner–Home Decor

I am getting to a project I’ve wanted to do for a while – a wall of family photos. I found a great deal on collage type frames and that got me ready to move it.

I’ve printed some photos of 6 of my grands into black and white from color. I am still working on getting more photos to put in, but I also wanted to break it up with some décor. I created this panel to help get to the look I am going for.

I used several stamps (okay, lots of stamps!) to create the background and then computer generated the wording. Oooo, a collage in a collage. Clever, huh?

I need to fill all those empty frames with family photos. It’s so much fun looking through all the old photos.
