Welcome to Kittie’s Korner. Today I have a project and tutorial to share that combines stamping using water based inks with watercolor technique. I love creating outdoor scenes and the images in the Create a Garden Set II and Kittie Kits Outdoor Master provided me with everything I need.

Water Based Ink- I used Distress Inks – Forest Moss, Vintage Photo, Antique Linen, Pumice Stone, Rusty Hinge, Chipped Sapphire, Fired Brick, Dusty Concord, Scattered Straw
1. Stamp flower pot image using Pumice Stone. I masked off the bottom of the pot with tape so there would be no line to cover in later steps.
2. Touch the image lines lightly with a damp (not wet) brush to soften the lines and move color into the open image. If your brush is too wet it will destroy the lines of your image.
3. Add shades of brown to the image by lightly stroking your damp brush directly across the ink pad to gather ink and apply to your image using a stipple like motion. After you have applied the ink you can use a very light damp wash on your brush to smooth out the color. I used Antique Linen and Vintage Photo for this step.
4. Lightly apply a little Rusty Hinge to the darker areas of your image for the look of an old clay pot.
5. Using your damp brush dip directly into a drop of Pumice Stone reinker and go back lightly over the lines of the pot that may have faded during painting.
6. Create a mask and cover your pot.
7. Stamp foliage images with Forest Green ink along the top of the masked pot.
8. Remove mask and stamp a few vines down the front of the pot and add flower images. I used Chipped Sapphire, Fired Brick and Dusty Concord for my flower images.
9. Stamp grass image around the base of the pot.
10. Using a damp brush with water only lightly touch the grass images and wash the green color around.
11. Using a dry damp brush add shades of brown to the ground area by stroking the brush directly across the ink pad and then lightly stippling around the bare spots of grass.
12. Lightly sponge Scattered Straw ink around the complete image to highlight. The yellow shading will bring the pot of flowers to life.
Finish your card.
